Tuija Mononen (DocSocSci, PhilLic) is an Adjunct Professor of sustainable natural resources policy and works as a University Research Fellow at the University of Eastern Finland at the Department of Geographical and Historical studies. She has been conducting social scientific agri-food research since 1996 and mining research since 2009. She is a representative of Northern Europe in the Research Committee on Food and Agriculture Research (RC40) of the International Sociological Organization (ISA). Her academic interest extends to sustainable natural resource policy, food issues - in particular the development, implications and actors of organic production - food security, rural research and actor network research. In mining research, her interest is in the social issues, experiences and perceived impacts of mining among local residents.
