Welcome to the Annual Computer Science Symposium in Kuopio, June 10-11, 2019!
University of Eastern Finland's Kuopio campus is located near the beautiful, blue Lake Kallavesi. The location of the event is Mediteknia, auditorium MD100.
The event is organized by School of Computing, University of Eastern Finland and the Finnish Society for Computer Science (a member of The Finnish Information Processing Association, TIVIA).
The theme of the event is data and digitalization. Data lays the foundations of digitalization and AI, how data can be retrieved, how it should be stored and how it will change the academic research of Computer Science and business.
Annual Computer Science Symposium will highlight the impacts of data and digitalization on computer science through the following questions:
· How computer scientists can work and collaborate together with software professionals?
· What type data is collected from us and how it is used?
· How computer science can help other domains and how other domains can help CS?
Traditionally, annual awards for best Computer Science Master’s theses and dissertations are published and given during the event.
Additionally, it is possible to present posters and demos during the event and take a look at new education technology solutions.
The Chairman of the Annual Computer Science Symposium 2019 is Erkki Pesonen, program committee Chair is Pauli Miettinen and Local Organization Committee Chair is Marko Jäntti.

While registration, select event modules that you shall participate in. Payment methods include online bank payment and credid card payment. The participation fee includes all the event material, coffee and refreshments noted in the event program. The lunch on Tuesday 11th June is at your own cost. 2 day registration fee includes also conference dinner. Registration can be cancelled until 20.5.2019 at 16:00 by email to firstname.lastname@example.org. Cancellations and non-shows after this date shall be charged in full amount.

Annual Computer Science Symposium 2019 shall be organized at Mediteknia (auditorium MD100, Savilahti campus of University of Eastern Finland.
From Kuopio railway station/bus station, one can take a taxi to the university or make a short walk to the city centre where buses to Savilahti area depart. Bus lines 4, 16 and 21 can be used to travel to the university (Canthia bus stop), from city center (Tulliportinkatu bus stop) . Price for single oneway ticket is 3,30 eur. Event participants shall make their reservation and travel arrangements by themselves.
