Tackling Inequalities in Time of Austerity
The project Tackling Inequalities in Time of Austerity (TITA, 1 May 2015 – 31 December 2017) provides an analysis of long-term trends in financial inequalities, inequalities in health and social welfare and inequalities of opportunities over the course of people’s lives, and their links to the moral and political climate in society. The goal is to create a comprehensive framework for mapping key target groups from the point of view of political activity and to give recommendations for political action.
The project produces tools for political learning, both as country-specific studies as well as comparative studies between the countries. Professor Mikko Niemelä, D.Soc.Sc., from the University of Turku acts as the leader of the consortium project. There are two early-stage researchers working on the project at the Department of Social Sciences at the University of Eastern Finland, Tuomo Laihiala, M.Soc.Sc., and Maria Ohisalo, M.Soc.Sc..
