Clinical Neurophysiology

Teaching, research and specialist training are conducted in close collaboration with the Kuopio University Hospital (KUH), Department of Clinical Neurophysiology. The Department of Clinical Neurophysiology is part of the KUH Imaging Centre. Teaching is provided by the university staff and the Specialists of the Department of Clinical Neurophysiology.

Basic teaching for medical students on Clinical Neurophysiology is delivered in the 2nd, 4th and 5th year in Medical School as parts of their Physiology, Neurology and Neurosurgery courses.

The Department of Clinical Neurophysiology is the teaching hospital in Eastern Finland providing training towards the qualification of specialist in Clinical Neurophysiology.

The Department of Clinical Neurophysiology is undertaking several clinically oriented research programs, e.g. the use of acute emergency EEG in outpatient medical service, and studies improving the diagnostics of sleep-apnea. There are also several programs applying navigated TMS on basic human brain research as well as on new treatment options.
