Dermatology and Venereology

The discipline of Dermatology and Venereology is part of the Institute of Clinical Medicine in the School of Medicine within the University of Eastern Finland´s Faculty of Health Sciences.

Undergraduate training

The basic course in medicine aims to offer a study module that serves open healthcare practices and to provide the basics of diagnosing and treating skin diseases, venereal diseases and allergic skin conditions. An important goal is development of the discipline, high-quality postgraduate education, promotion of scientific research and international research cooperation.

Medical specialist training

Specialist medical training in dermatology and allergology as well as postgraduate and continuing education are provided in cooperation with Kuopio University Hospital´s Dermatology Clinic and the dermatology units of central hospitals in the special responsibility area.

The person in charge of the discipline is Professor Ilkka Harvima. Other staff consists of two clinical lecturers and a teaching coordinator.
