Library management

The University of Eastern Finland Library is a service centre, which works in close cooperation with the university's faculties and university services.

The library's main functions

The library’s main functions are:
to support teaching and learning
and to support research and publishing.

The services supporting these functions are:
1. the library's customer services
2.  the library’s training and information services
3. the library's collection services
4. library IT and publishing services
5. the library's internal services.

The library’s tasks

The library’s tasks are defined in the Administrative Regulations of the University of Eastern Finland.


UEF Library’s strategy 2016-2020 describes the library’s values and goal, library as the promoter of the university’s strategic goals, key library users and partners as well as the evaluation and follow-up.

Rules of procedure

The library’s management system and the authorities and responsibilities of the library staff are defined in the library’s rules of procedure.

Quality Assurance

The library’s own quality management system has been developed in accordance with the university’s Quality Management System.

Feedback form

Feedback will be processed daily. Easily fixed issues will be solved immediately if they are essential to the service and in accordance with the operating policy. All feedback will be processed in the relevant services. If necessary, feedback will also be processed in the library’s working groups. Feedback and the changes prompted by feedback will be processed annually by the management group in the management review.
