Instructions of Philosophical Faculty for evaluating doctoral dissertation and the procedure of public doctoral examination:

Post-doctoral party, karonkka

The post-doctoral party, karonkka, is held in the honour of the opponent and the candidate acts as the host or hostess of the party. The doctoral candidate can decide the venue for the party, and is in charge to organize and pay the costs of post-doctoral party. An invitation to the post-doctoral party should be sent, not only to the opponent and the custos, but also to the faculty representative, supervisors, pre-examiners and co-authors, as well as to anyone else who has clearly contributed to the dissertation. Also the candidate's companion, parents and close friends may be included in the guest list. Note, that Philosophical Faculty pays the travelling and accommodation costs only for the opponent. All other visitors should travel to the public defence and karonkka with their own finances.
